What we collect

Your email address, if you choose to give it to us on the early reader page. Nothing else is required — no name, no demographics, no profile.

What your browser sends when it asks for a page: IP address, browser and device type, the page requested. Our hosting provider records this in standard server logs for security and reliability.

Measurement, only if you allow it. If you accept analytics in the banner, we load an analytics service that reports how many people read which pages. We use it to learn which pages work — not to build a profile of you, and never for advertising.

What you type into the Lab or a character chat. Those features send your message to an external AI model provider to generate a reply. We do not keep a copy of your messages on our server, and they are not attached to your email address or to any list.

Abuse limits. To stop automated flooding of those features, we keep a counter on our own server, filed under a one-way cryptographic hash of your IP address rather than the address itself. The count resets within minutes; the file it lives in is cleared on maintenance. We treat that hash as personal information, because a hash of an IP address can be worked backwards by anyone determined enough — so it is covered by everything below.

Why we are allowed to

For the early reader list and for analytics, the legal basis is your consent — you asked, and you can withdraw it at any time. For server logs and abuse limits, it is our legitimate interest in keeping the site up and unabused. We do not sell personal information, and we do not disclose it for cross-context behavioural advertising.

Who else sees it

Only service providers who process it on our instructions, and only for the job named:

• a web hosting provider, which serves the pages and keeps server logs;
• a third-party cloud storage service, where the early reader list is held in a private, access-restricted file — not a marketing or advertising platform;
• an analytics provider, only after you accept analytics;
• an AI model provider, which receives the message you type into a chat or the Lab in order to answer it;
• a web font service, which serves the typefaces this site is set in and, like any request for a file, receives your IP address as part of that request. This one loads on every page, before the banner — we are working on serving the fonts ourselves.

No one else. Your address is never sold, rented, traded, or handed to an ad network.

If the list connection is briefly unavailable, your submission is instead held on our own server, not publicly accessible, under the same terms as everything above.

Where it goes

Sabella Quinn is based in Canada. Some of the providers above operate outside Canada, including in the United States and the European Union, so your information may be processed there under that country's law.

Cookies

Necessary: a session cookie that makes form submission safe (it carries the token proving the form came from you), and a cookie that remembers your analytics choice for six months so we stop asking. These cannot be switched off without breaking the site.

Analytics: set only after you press Accept. Press Reject and they are never loaded. You can change your mind by clearing this site's cookies in your browser, which brings the banner back.

How long we keep it

Your email address stays on the list until you ask us to remove it, or until we stop sending early-reader updates about Lambda Hearts Trilogy altogether — whichever comes first. Server logs roll off on the hosting provider's normal schedule. Abuse counters are described above. Chat and Lab messages are not retained by us at all.

What you can ask for

You can ask to see what we hold about you, correct it, have it deleted, get a copy in a portable form, withdraw your consent, or object to a use — and we will not make you explain why. One email does it: hello@sabella.ca. The law gives us 30 days to answer and we do not intend to use all of them.

These rights come from Canada's PIPEDA and, if you are in the UK, EU, or EEA, from the UK GDPR and GDPR. If you think we have handled your information badly, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or to your local supervisory authority — though we would rather you told us first, so we can fix it.

Not for children

Lambda Hearts Trilogy is adult fiction and this site is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.

If this changes

Material changes get a new effective date at the top of this page. If a change affects how we use an address already on the list, you will hear it from us directly — not quietly, and not in a footer.
